Artist Bio
Christie Clarke is an educator and potter. She was a full time potter from 1977-1991 making functional wheel thrown pots that were sold through shops and many art fairs throughout the upper mid-west. She taught art at Shattuck, Cannon Falls and Northfield High School from 1992-2013 At Northfield she was awarded a Japan Fulbright scholarship to study pottery in Japan and in 2012 won the Art Educator of the Year from the Art Educators of Minnesota. She retired from teaching in 2013 and she has begun to re-explore pottery with hand building one of a kind pots with an eye toward more sculptural forms experimenting with glaze. She also is using gold, silver and copper leaf to finished pots.
