Artist Bio
Claudia Poser is a self-taught ceramic artist working in Minneapolis. Her art reflects her interest in the tension between order and emotion, the rational and organic. She finds beauty in both natural and manufactured detail. Her ceramic sculptures and mixed media works explore themes of growth and transformation. Her formal training is in science – she has a PhD in Polymer Science from the University of Massachusetts. Claudia grew up in Germany, steeped in modernism and Scandinavian design, exposed to art and museums by her mother who was passionate about art history and travel. She discovered ceramics as her primary medium in the early 90’s while studying at Northern Clay Center. During 2008-2009 she participated in the WARM mentor program. She has shown her work widely in the Twin Cities and has completed several corporate and private commissions for wall installations. Her work is on view at Gallery 394 in the Northrup King Building in Minneapolis, as well as at Cello Gallery in Bozeman, Montana.
